About me

...and my motivation.

Man kann sich die Wissenschaft als einen runden Raum mit lauter Türen vorstellen. Manche sind offen, manche sind geschlossen.Und jede Zeit hat ihre eigenen Schlüssel um ein paar der Türen neu zu öffnen.

You can image science as a round room with nothing but doors. Some are open, some are closed. And every time has its own keys to newly open some of these doors.

I'm Markus, and I have started to open some doors and took a first look at the promising future of nonlinear data analysis of water surface data using a nonlinear Fourier transform. My passion is the analysis, interpretation, understanding and simulation of nonlinear processes in water wave propagation and related data. By comparative analysis of data from model tests, field observations or numerical simulations using conventional fast Fourier (FFT), wavelet (WT) or Hilbert-Huang transform (HHT) and especially the nonlinear Fourier transform (NLFT) the breathtaking potentials and chances of the latter approach have been revealed.

The first step in nonlinear analysis of water surface data is done with finishing my doctoral thesis. The NLFT is the key to open some doors that have been locked until now. Join me to explore the wonderful world of understanding nonlinear wave propagation the related nonlinear interactions.
